Key holder without drilling: the magnetic key hook
Looking for a key rack but don't want to drill? Maybe you rent, the wall by the door is tiled, or you simply don't want to put up a rack for three keys. A magnetic key holder is a slim alternative: a small holder with a strong magnet that sticks to the wall with an adhesive pad.
How the magnetic key holder works
The Soapi key holder is the same holder as our magnetic soap holder. A strong magnet sits inside the housing. It does not hold the key itself, but the steel key ring. That matters: many keys are made of brass or nickel silver and are not magnetic. Almost every bunch of keys hangs on a steel ring, though, and that is held reliably.
- Guide your keys to the holder by the ring, it clicks into place.
- To take them off, just pull, no hook to thread.
- Even heavy bunches with a car key stay put.
Fitting without drilling: where it holds and where it doesn't
The adhesive pad holds on smooth, solid surfaces: tiles, glass, metal, lacquered wood, smooth doors and furniture. Here is how:
- Clean the spot thoroughly with water and a cloth only, then let it dry well.
- Peel off the backing and press the holder on firmly.
- Done: you can hang your keys straight away.
Please don't stick it on painted or wallpapered walls, a drilled key rack is the better choice there. If you move, you can get a replacement adhesive pad for your Soapi and stick it up again in the new place.
Key rack or single key holder?
A classic key rack with a shelf is handy if lots of keys, post and sunglasses should land in one place. A single magnetic holder is the better choice if you want it tidy and small: one holder per person, in their own colour, right by the door, on the shoe cabinet or the coat rack. Many people hang two or three side by side.
